The DuoFlex system has only 5-10% of foreign objects in the waste received at the sorting facility. In order to improve the work environment and raise the quality of reusable materials, Damifo Vojens, is working continuously together with e.g. municipalities, utility companies, universities, robotics suppliers, the Danish Technological Institute and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, towards reducing manual sorting work at the facilities. Non-recyclable items such as ceramics, stoneware and porcelain (CSP) can e.g. now be sorted out automatically, whereas previously this had to be done manually. At the same time, the sorting cabin has been designed with noise reduction, clean air protection and a height-adjustable floor.
There is a considerable variety on the market of recycled materials and the outlets for the sorted materials place high demands on quality. In order to achieve satisfactory economy, it is important that the products have as high a degree of purity as possible and that they can be separated. It is collaboration throughout the entire value chain, from product designers, to retailers, to members of the public, to collection services, to central sorting for end users of the product which is essential to ensure high quality and create the opportunity to exploit the full recycling potential.
